A cappella: like Whiskey to the ear (sometimes)
Fair warning, I'm fairly drunk right now. And not on the best whiskey I've had either. But bear (bare?) with me, I feel as if I'm having an idea here. I'm currently listening to singers in bands without music playing, a cappella if you will. And I'm trying to explain to Matt how fabulous David Bowie and Freddie Mercury sound without anything else besides their voices. How do you explain sounds? Aren't all the human senses (jury is still out on how many there truly are) linked? Can you not describe taste through scent? And touch through taste? Why not sound through taste? I'm sure it's been done. When I listen to Under Pressure as sung by Bowie and Mercury a cappella, it sounds like whiskey tastes. Turn it on, pour yourself a shot of a good whiskey or bourbon, perhaps a rye, a listen with me. There is this harsh raspy sound that is also very vaguely beautiful. Bring your drink up to your nose.
